This page will list a large variety of generally smaller tableware which is used in various serving capacities, usually for food but sometimes for related purposes. 1394-35. Antique American Silver Table Bell in the aesthetic style, the bell body curving up to a slightly domed top with applied tapering cylindrical narrow handle ending in a ball finial (#335); made by the Gorham Mfg. Co. of Providence RI in 1877. Nice engraved intertwined "KTL" mono. 4.0" high, 1.62" bell diameter, 1.8 troy oz. Small ding to body. $ 125.
1524-29. Antique American Silver Table Bell in the aesthetic style, the flaring bell body engraved with butterfly, bird, and bamboo 'Japonisme'  decoration and ending with tapering cylindrical handle topped by a ball finial (#50); made by the Gorham Mfg. Co. of Providence RI in 1879. No mono. 4.25" high, 2.25" bell diameter, 2.9 troy oz. SOLD

Antique Silver-lidded Glass Cigar Jar with octagonal-facetted cylindrical form cut glass body, the slightly domed silver slip-on applied beaded edge lid inset with a stamped Harvard Commemorative Seal medallion with beaded border; marked by Goodnow & Jenks of Boston MA, c.1895-1905. No mono. Possibly a graduation or alumni present. 5.38" high, 3.75" diameter; Cover 0.88" high, 3.71" diameter, 2.6 troy oz. $ 280.

Cruet Sets

1495-04.jpg (55857 bytes) 1495-04. Antique George III Silver-mounted Wood Cruet of typical form on turned foot, the revolving turntable holding five cut glass bottles with silver caps, the turned column ending in a hinged scroll handle; struck twice on the handle only with the mark of Jane Dorrell & Richard May, working in London 1766-1771. No mono. Frame: 11.0" high, 8.0" wide, 5.0" foot diameter; Bottles: 5.5"-6.5" high, 2.12"-2.38" diameter. The wood frame has been restored, one silver cap is cracked. An unusual and rare survival. $ 950.

Muffineers (Large Sugar and Spice Castors)

Pair Georgian-style Muffineers of shaped octagonal baluster form on spreading foot, the scroll pierced domed covers with cast finial; the first made in the Britannia standard and marked by Lionel A. Crichton for Crichton Bros. at London in 1922/23, the second in sterling marked by the Crichton & Co. division in New York NY. No mono. 6.88" high, 2.5" wide foot, weights are 10.85 troy oz. 1371-30.jpg (61705 bytes) 1371-30. Danish Silver Muffineer with art deco hammered finish and bayonet fitted cover; marked by Grann & Laglye and struck with the assay marks of Christian F. Heise at Copenhagen in 1925, the "Dansk Arbejde" mark for the Danish Artist Association and the retailer jeweler's mark of Matthiasen. 7.0" high, 3.0" wide, 2.12" foot diameter, 5.2 troy oz. Inscription removed and surface re-hammered and polished. $ 750.

Co. and marked at Birmingham in 1911/12. Engraved "Youart" in slanted script. 1.0" high, 1.5" diameter, 0.35 troy oz. Small scratches and dings. Antique American Silver Salt Cellar of oval form on a milled floral decorated foot band, the sides with engine-turned decoration inside oval reserves between blank shield reserves at the ends, applied milled "twist" lip rim; struck with the horse's head and leopard's head manufacturer's trademarks of Baldwin & Co. of Newark NJ, c.1850-1870. No mono. 1.5" high, 3" long, 2.25" wide, 2.1 troy oz. Some corrosion at solder joints in gilt interior; the engine-turned decoration in one reserve damaged by "wire brush"(!?!) use. $ 75.

Pair George V Silver Covered Salt Cellars of shaped octagonal form on matching stepped pedestal foot, domed hinged cover with turned finial, scroll handle, clear glass liners; both made in the Britannia standard and marked by Lionel A. 0269-09.jpg (38588 bytes) 0269-09. Pair Antique American Individual Salt Cellars with matte surface and gilt interior (#1815); made by the Gorham Mfg. Co. of Providence RI in 1882. Mono "EAW". We have a single also available. 1.0" high, 1.62" diameter, 1.0 troy oz. total. Wear and discoloration to interior. $ 40.

Pair American Silver-rimmed Glass Salt Cellars, the shallow circular glass dish cut with diamond decoration on the sides and star decoration on the base, fitted with an octofoil silver rim with embossed beaded edge (#S1782); made by the Gorham Mfg. Co. of Providence RI, c.1885-1895. No mono. 0.62" high, 3.5" diameter. One with silver rim split. An example of this rare form is illustrated with a photograph from the Gorham archives on page 82 of the Handbook of Gorham Salt Dishes by George & Carolyn Tompkins (Rockport ME: Archimedes Press, 1987). Pair Antique American Silver Salt Cellars of circular tub form cast foliate scroll feet, chased with floral repoussι decoration, together with a Pair Salt Spoons with chased decoration; marked by Samuel Kirk & Son of Baltimore MD, working 1846-1861. Salts: 1.88" high, 2.5" wide, 2.0" lip diameter, 5.3 troy oz.; Spoons: 3.75" long, 0.7 troy oz. Spoons worn. No mono on salts, mono "J" on spoons. $ 450.

No mono. 1.88" long, 3.75" long, 3.0" wide, 2.2 troy oz. total (without glass). The ends are a trimmed down section of the side views made from the same dies. $ 800.

Sauce Boats

1551-22. Antique American Silver Sauceboat & Undertray, the sauceboat of oval form on three cast foliate scroll feet, the chased foliate double-scroll handle opposite the rising spout, the sides chased with floral repousse decoration; made by Jacobi & Jenkins of Baltimore MD, working 1894-1907. Together with an oval shallow dish / undertray with chased floral repousse decration (#116); made by the successor firm Jenkins & Jenkins Inc., working 1907-1923. No mono. Sauceboat: 4.88" high, 7.12" long, 3.62" wide, 7.9 troy oz.; Stand: 1.25" high, 8.75" wide, 4.75" wide, 5.1 troy oz.; 13.0 troy oz. total weight. The replacement undertray may actually be a candy dish. $ 1,200.
